I would like to introduce you to Miss Ruth Anna
As you can see she is a very large 50" mammy doll, when she sits on a standard chair her feet rest on the floor.
I have used cotton prairie cloth for her body, after I finished needle sculpturing her features, I painted and antiqued her for a very old look, then I painted her facial features free-hand and then antiqued her again. For her hair I used natural hand washed raw sheep's wool, each bundle has been hand tied on. Her dress and loons are made from cotton homespun in a dark green color, and for her collar I use an antique doily that I found at a local tag sale.
Finally, in her hands she is holding her favorite old book, an antique glass candle stick and a prim timer candle so she can get cozy this evening and read.
Miss Ruth Anna has been made here in our home, she has taken many hours to make, I have used no glue, just fabric, thread, paint and love.
